The people who tell you that running a business is easy, are simply lying. There are many obstacles when it comes to being an entrepreneur but one essential element to soften the blow is to surround yourself with a network of people who have your back. If you’ve been to a baby shower, you’ve probably heard the saying “It takes a village to raise a child”.. turn that child into a business and I couldn’t agree more. Especially when you’re a solo-entrepreneur the support of others is invaluable and I have four main reasons.
Support
Seems obvious that this would be number one but its absolutely essential to have a strong community that you can share both your struggles and celebrate your successes with. During turbulent times, they can be an excellent resource to give their opinion, share their experiences with similar issues or even just listen. They can help celebrate your achievements, brainstorm new ideas or even inspire you to make a change.
Outsourcing
We all have things we aren’t good at or things we really don’t enjoy doing. Perhaps you have someone in your network that could assist with this, and you may be able to help them with something they don’t like. This gives you the time to focus on your passions in your business and leave the other tasks to the professionals. It can also be helpful to have a second look at particular tasks to ensure their fresh and on brand.
Promotion
Positive word of mouth advertising is immensely helpful when building and continuing to grow your business. Having a community of individuals that fully support your business, and who are genuinely willing to tell others about your brand is truly something that money can’t buy.
Collaboration
We all have ideas and goals but sometimes collaborating with someone else creates inspiration, stronger ideas and overall better outcomes. Together, you have the ability to brainstorm ideas, experiment with different methods and promote your ideas as a unit. Working with someone else can also be a source of comfort when working on an idea that may be a little outside your comfort zone.
